Position Summary

The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging instruction and physical activities designed to support students’ academic excellence, physical well-being, virtue, and leadership development.

Essential Responsibilities Instruction & Student Learning Deliver engaging and effective physical education instruction for students in Junior High and High School Implement curriculum with fidelity while adapting instruction to meet student needs Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment Promote student growth, achievement, and participation Maintain effective classroom and activity management practices Support student development through encouragement and leadership opportunities

Content Knowledge & Instructional Areas Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of: Developmentally appropriate physical health and fitness principles Human growth, lifespan development, and nutrition Foundations of kinesiology, anatomy, exercise physiology, and health education Age-appropriate sports, games, and motor skill development Physical safety practices, injury prevention, CPR, and first aid procedures Adaptations and accommodations for students with disabilities Movement fundamentals including: Gymnastics Tumbling Dance Weight training Individual sports such as: Track & Field Tennis Golf Archery Team sports such as: Basketball Volleyball Soccer Professional Responsibilities Maintain professional standards and responsibilities Collaborate with colleagues, staff, and administration Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree (preferred in Physical Education or related field) Minimum of 36 semester hours in the content area preferred Colorado Teaching License not required

Preferred Experience Previous teaching or youth coaching experience preferred Passion for student engagement, physical wellness, and character development
