Job description
Mental Health Counseling Intern MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Essential Job Functions Provide career, mental health, and crisis counseling to San Jacinto College students. Develop, foster, and maintain relationships with community agencies and organizations to connect students with services. Plan and implement mental health awareness, social services, and educational events for students. Deliver classroom presentations and facilitate workshops for students. Participate in weekly supervision meeting as dictated by CSWE, university and college policies.

- Opportunities: Attend conferences/workshops provided by San Jacinto College. Represent SJC with outside educational institutions, internal departments, and professional organizations. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and basic skills in counseling practices and methods.
- Ability to maintain processes and systems that improve the quality of student support services.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and to prepare written and electronic documents.
- Ability to plan, implement, evaluate and report activities conducted.
- Ability to travel to meetings, other campus locations, and administrative offices.
- Ability to maintain counseling records as required by federal and state professional counseling regulations.
- Knowledge of FERPA laws and regulations.
- Ability to communicate and present to large audiences.
- Ability to maintain emotional and professional composer in time of crisis.
- Knowledge and working practice of the NASW or LPC code of ethics. Education and Experience:
- Applicant must be in second year of a MSW program or enrolled in a practicum/internship course of an approved counseling program. Required Education:
- Must be enrolled in a MSW Program accredited by the CSWE or CACREP approved counseling program and enrolled in an practicum/internship course.
