PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Establishes commitments to compliance of rules and keeps all student athletes informed about National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) conference and University eligibility requirements, new legislation, academic standards, and University code of conduct.
- Coordinate and maintain records for all athletic physical examinations for all student-athletes.
- Completes required CEU’s for BOCATC
- Remain in good standing with the BOCATC
- Uphold Howard University Sports Medicine Policy & Procedures for athletes.
- Works more than the traditional 40 hours per week, which may include many weekends (including Sundays), nights and holidays.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license for transportation of team in vans and the ability to travel for team practices and competition.
- Other duties as assigned by Senior Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine. SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY: Reports to the Senior Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine. NATURE AND SCOPE: Maintains appropriate communication with the Senior Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine, student-athletes, coaches, and physicians.
- Maintains appropriate communication and attends meetings within the Department of Athletics.
- Maintains an athletic calendar of events for team practice, games, and other schedule activities.
- Will coordinate and maintain records for all athletic physical examinations for all student-athletes. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in exercise physiology/health education, sports medicine or a related field preferred.
- NATABOC certification.
- Current CPR/AED certification.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
- DC License Eligibility and three years’ minimum certified athletic training experience (Must have the ability to gain an athletic trainer license in Washington, DC and must have the license before start date.). Compliance
