Job description
- Overview The Allen College Occupational Therapy program is seeking to hire several occupational therapy practitioners to serve as adjunct faculty for the 2026 fall semester.
- Adjunct faculty are supervised by the Program Director/Chair or Dean.
- In compliance with the Clery Act, Allen College publishes an Annual Security Report (ASR) containing three previous years of crime statistics, institutional policies concerning campus safety, and a fire safety report.
- The report is available at ASR Report 2025.

- The entry-level occupational therapy doctoral degree program has applied for accreditation and has been granted Candidacy Status by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 7501 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite 510E, Bethesda, MD 20814.

- The program must have a pre-accreditation review, complete an on-site evaluation and be granted Accreditation Status before its graduates will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR).
- In addition, all states require licensure to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination.

Responsibilities
Participates with guidance in the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the individual course within the college curriculum. Promotes and maintains collaborative relationships between college and clinical agencies.
Teaching
(with direction and guidance of administration or instructor of higher rank), including classroom preparation, instruction, supervision and evaluation. Provides a positive role model and professional attitude toward students and the teaching process. Maintains confidentiality in accord with college/program policy.
Qualifications
A doctorate degree in occupational therapy from a regionally accredited institution is preferred; however, a master’s or bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy may be considered per applicant’s expertise and clinical experience. Licensed as an occupational therapist in the state of Iowa. Prior teaching experience in occupational therapy is preferred but not required. A minimum or the equivalence of 3 years of full-time clinical experience in occupational therapy is required. Current clinical skills and demonstrated competency in practice. Ability to practice in an ethical manner, according to licensure expectations. Ability to follow all expectations of safety and confidentiality. Commitment to the mission and goals of the College and to Allen College’s core values. Valid driver’s license in Iowa and means of transportation.
