Summary Provide comprehensive oral hygiene and periodontal care to dental patients of the College of Dental Medicine as outlined by the South Carolina Board of Dentistry. Provide instruction in oral hygiene to patients verbally and in written format. Maintain hygiene recall schedule for patients. Accurately document and maintain Electronic Health Record. Ensure instruments are maintained and supplies are stocked. Provide assistance to the dentists and other staff as needed, as well as any other duties directed by the Clinic Manager. Perform oral prophylaxis, periodontal scaling and root planning, polishing, topical application of fluoride, and oral hygiene instructions. Document all patient care activities in the EHR according to guidelines set forth by the CDM and the Manager. 25%: Use digital technology to expose and mount panoramic, periapical, and bitewing radiographs prescribed by the attending dentist. Use intra-oral camera to take photographs. 20%: Maintain and sterilize all dental hygiene instruments and equipment. Ensure instruments and supplies are stocked in dental hygiene operatory. Maintain infection control of dental hygiene operatory. 15%: Plan hygiene recall appointments and next restorative appointments for patients by adding the correct planned visit in the EHR at each visit.
