Position Summary

Provide direct supervision of children in a group setting. Provide a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Other department duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Safely supervise a group of children ages six weeks to nine years of age. Implement program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values. Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness. Maintain positive relationship with parents and other staff. Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies. Attend all staff meetings and in-service training.   • DEMANDS: Ability to verbally lead group activities. Adequate mobility, sight and hearing to effectively supervise program participants. Sufficient strength and agility to perform essential functions of position including the ability to lift a child who weighs approximately 50 pounds. Ability to perform essential functions which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: standing; sitting; semi-to-full reaching overhead; crouching; kneeling; carrying; twisting of the waist, shoulders and legs.
