- The Role The Multnomah Athletic Club is seeking a Playschool Assistant Teacher to join our Youth Programs team.
- The Playschool Assistant Teacher supports the Playschool Lead Teacher in delivering a fun, safe, and enriching classroom experience for children ages 4.
- This role is primarily part-time (Monday–Friday, 8:00am–1:00pm) with the potential to transition to full-time based on availability.
- The Assistant Teacher fosters a positive, nurturing environment that promotes learning, exploration, and social development while aligning with the MAC’s mission and values.
- What You’ll Do Assist the Lead Teacher in preparing and implementing engaging classroom activities for 4-year-old children Provide a warm, safe, clean, and organized classroom environment Supervise children and support their social, emotional, and developmental growth Maintain accurate attendance records and classroom documentation Communicate observations regarding children’s development, progress, or behavioral needs with the Lead Teacher Model positive behavior and apply appropriate classroom management techniques Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information Follow all safety guidelines and enforce program policies and procedures Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive and customer-focused environment Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and complete continuing education (minimum 16 hours annually) Maintain regular, dependable attendance What You’ll Bring Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or at least one year of preschool classroom experience (preferred) CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire) Ability to lift and carry children up to 50 lbs Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and staff Sound judgment, patience, and professionalism when working with children A genuine passion for early childhood development and fostering a love of learning Ability to support a classroom culture that values respect, inclusion, curiosity, and exploration What You'll Gain At Multnomah Athletic Club, we believe in taking care of our team members.
