  • Description: Ward Home, INC My Best Self which builds self-esteem and teaches hair care and personal hygiene to Allegheny County young people in placement anywhere in the state. MBS also assists youth experiencing homelessness and need self-care support. The program provides professional hair services, culturally specific self-care supplies, social exposures, and self-care workshops to youth in Congregate Care facilities and Transition Aged Youth up to age 24.

  • Overview: Self-Care Advisor Facilitate workshops, presentations, and individual sessions with youth on a variety of hygiene and self-care topics Research information needed to prepare workshops Support and facilitate the referral process for new clients for the MBS program Recruit salon providers and vendors as needed Schedule appointments and track hair services for the MBS program Maintain and submit salon provider invoices for payment as needed Research, organize and attend social exposure events Distribute survey information for each service provided by the MBS program Create and distribute self-care bags Attend all assigned and required training internal and external Attend all required meetings internal and external as needed
