Responsibilities
Apply principles of quality early childhood education and programming. Active involvement with, and supervision of children required at all times. Manages staff-to-child ratios within licensing standards and according to Y policies for classroom coverage. Prepares materials, activities and environment ahead of time, as needed or assigned. Monitors equipment and facility for safety and security purposes and follows through on concerns in a timely manner. Cleans and picks up areas used by the program daily. Has the ability to work with children with or without special needs. Observes, assesses and contributes to the compilation of the child’s portfolio on a regular basis. Communicates program issues to lead teacher or director. Assist the lead teacher in lesson planning, as requested. Be able to take over in the lead teachers absence and incorporate written lesson plans. Be a team player with all staff; will assist in other areas as requested. All child care staff are mandated by the state of Kansas and Missouri to report suspected child abuse and neglect and must notify appropriate staff of any suspected abuse, unsafe conditions, needed repairs, complaints, accidents or injuries immediately.
Qualifications
Commitment and desire to provide premiere child care services at all levels. Previous child care experience preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older to meet licensing requirements.
