- Functions: This is a Non-Exempt position. The role of a Certified nsxlcin Language Teacher is to teach the language in the classroom and to plan, prepare and devliver instructional activities and opportunities toward fluency in the Tribal language and traditional cultural knowledge. Language teachers are masters of their language, demonstrating a high proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the language that they are teaching. With these skills, an environment is created for teachers and staff to learn effectively. Language teachers may need to teach several levels concurrently, from beginning speakers of the language to those who are approaching fluency.

- Training: Requires High school Diploma or G.E.D. Requires a nsxlcin language teaching certificate Requires OSPI Certification Must have minimum of 3 years teaching experience in nsxlcin language to early childhood, intermediate (3-5 grades) middle school (6-10) and adults Requires Washington State Driver's license. Obtain a First Aid/CPR Card within 30 days of employment and keep current during employment.

- Abilities: Requires strong verbal communication skills, Excellent writing and speaking skills, ability to work effectively with individuals and groups Requires knowledge in the area of instructional methods and theory Ability to facilitate groups Must possess the ability to work alongside college interns training guiding their development in speaking, writing and reading nsxlcin. Must demonstrate sound mental and physical health.

In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing. TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED. If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
