About the Role
As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Fontana, CA Details: In-Person Tutoring in Fontana, CA Schedule: 24 hours a month; 4 times a week for 1.5 hour sessions Pay ranges from $25-$35 per hour Ideal Candidate: Teaching credential required Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to support emerging sign language users Extensive experience working with students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing and students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Skilled in language development, alternative communication methods, and expressive communication instruction Experience implementing behavior support strategies and working within ABA-informed environments Comfortable providing hand-over-hand prompting and scaffolded communication support when appropriate Strong understanding of visual learning strategies and communication development for nonverbal learners Patient, calm, structured, and consistent in managing high-energy behaviors Able to create engaging, individualized lessons using visual supports, picture-based materials, and hands-on activities Strong collaboration and progress-monitoring skills to support communication growth over time Key Responsibilities: Provide individualized ASL instruction focused on developing expressive and receptive communication skills Support language acquisition through structured, visual, and interactive teaching methods Use picture-based materials, visual schedules, books, and hands-on activities to reinforce vocabulary and communication concepts Implement consistent communication strategies that promote functional language development and independence Utilize prompting hierarchies, modeling, and guided practice to strengthen signing skills Apply behavior management and ABA-informed strategies to support engagement and participation Create a safe, predictable, and supportive learning environment that encourages communication attempts Adapt instruction to meet the student's developmental and communication needs Monitor progress and adjust instructional strategies based on responsiveness and growth Build rapport while maintaining clear structure, routines, and expectations during sessions Why Tutor Me Education?
