Description Reports to: Principal
Employment Information: Full time, 10-month bargaining unit position
Position Summary
Provide a variety of direct and indirect services to the students. The aide may be assigned to a teacher or team of teachers on a long- term basis. Co-teach, tutor, story tell, prep materials and all other tasks assigned by the teachers towards the implementation of the educational program. Must have Intermediate American Sign Language Competence.
Qualifications
At least a high school diploma. An Associate’s Degree from an accredited college/university is preferred Level 2+ (or above) ASLPI rating sign competence preferred. Advanced sign competence preferred Some background or experience in an educational setting is preferred
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist teachers with the implementation of instructional plans Assist teachers with the development of instructional materials and creating and maintaining a constructive classroom environment Engage in professional development in order to meet Paraeducator standards Substitute for teacher(s) in the class/team during teacher absence, as needed Assist with supervision of students (e.g., on trips, at lunch etc.) Provide meaningful and interactive language experiences with students under the direction of the teacher Provide appropriate support to students in their growth and development (e.g., academic, social skills, etc.) Participate in team, cluster and school-wide meetings Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, walking, frequent bending, crouching, reaching, stooping Lifting and moving of lighter objects such as books, chairs, student desks Manual dexterity skills for using office equipment Ability to read and attend to computer screens for long periods of time Sensitive to a child-friendly atmosphere
