Job description
Ozark Opportunities, Inc. is seeking motivated professionals who are passionate about early education. This role is PERFECT for occasional extra income!
- The Substitute role assists the Early Head Start Teacher to implement learning experiences that advance children's intellectual and physical development.
- As well as promoting the involvement of the families of children in the assigned program and center.
- In this substitute role, a full 8-hour day of work is $100 a day(pre-tax).
- As a substitute, the hours do vary, but we have a program providing a minimum of 8 hours a week.
- This program is capped at 2 program participants per center.
- Depending on the needs of the center the hours each week do vary.
- This role does not have a set schedule.
- Roles & Responsibilities: Assist the Teacher in carrying out the daily lesson plan and appropriate center activities.
- Maintains a safe, healthy learning environment and provide for children’s feeling of security away from Work closely with Center Assistants and Coordinators to ensure developmental tasks are completed per ECLKC and OHS requirements.
- Work closely with Family Development Workers to ensure family needs are met.
- Work closely with Health, Mental Health, and Disabilities Coordinators to ensure children are screened, needs identified and met, if applicable.
- Work closely with Nutrition Specialists & Coordinators to ensure healthy practices.
- Assists with the recruitment of volunteers and future clients for service.
- Attends family meetings as needed.
- Work with Coordinators to ensure In-Kind requirements are met.
- Mandated reporter of suspected cases of Child Abuse and Neglect.
- We expect qualified candidates to have a high school diploma or equivalent, experience in a teaching environment or with low-income families.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills as well as basic knowledge of computer operation and software.
- They must have an active and unhindered Driver’s License with personal reliable transportation.
- Successfully pass Criminal Background including FBI fingerprint and Child Maltreatment checks.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent lifting (able to lift up to 50lbs.), bending, stooping movements within the classroom.
- Agility to move around classroom furniture and materials.
- Occasional driving to trainings.
