Adjunct, Education and Child & Family Studies, Department of Teaching, Learning, and Behavioral Studies Time Type: Part time Position Summary and Qualifications: Saint Joseph's University’s Teaching, Learning, and Behavioral Studies has an ongoing need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to teach a variety of courses at the graduate and undergraduate level each semester, on an "as needed" basis. Courses available are scheduled during the day and also in the evening. Additionally, there is a need for instructors who are available to teach on campus as well as online classes. — Saint Joseph’s University (SJU) offers a wide variety of bachelor's, master's, doctoral, associate and certifi cate programs. With a commitment to personalized attention through a low faculty to student ratio, SJU may call on the expertise of adjunct instructors to complement the work of full-time faculty across all of its colleges and schools. SJU appoints part-time, non-tenure track adjunct instructors on a semester-to-semester basis with no guarantee of consecutive appointments. Re-appointment is based on university need, student enrollment, and satisfactory performance. Applicants for these positions are screened on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Teaching responsibilities are assigned by the department chair. Compensation for adjunct instructors is commensurate with educational credentials, professional, experience and instructional background. Duties & Responsibilities
Provide support and guidance to students Instruct an assigned course, providing syllabi and other instructional materials Use of university learning management systems to deliver instruction Report grades at midterm and final times. Providing student learning outcomes data when asked.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Master’s Degree in Education or closely related field Initial teacher certification with three years of full-time teaching experience in PK12 schools or at the college level. (Not required for Child & Family Studies courses) Preferred ABD or PhD in Education or closely related field Willingness to teach on campus and flexibility in class scheduling Physical and Other Requirements May require standing for long periods of time May require talking for long periods of time May require carrying course materials Modality: Fully online OR in-person, depending on course needs.
