About the role

Provide clinical and laboratory instruction and supervision to dental hygiene students. Manage student rotations, evaluate skills using program forms, and participate in faculty meetings and outcomes assessments.

Bergen Community College is accepting applications for adjunct positions in the Dental Hygiene department for Fall and Winter 2026.

Dental Hygiene Department

The Bergen Community College Dental Hygiene Program cultivates dental hygiene professionals who possess knowledge, clinical competence, ethics, and meet the needs of a diverse community. The program uses engagement and collaboration to teach the foundation in dental hygiene preparing practitioners who are integral to health care.

Responsibilities

  • Be knowledgeable of program goals and clinical objectives.
  • Be knowledgeable of the Typhon clinical evaluation system and online learning platform (CANVAS) or have a willingness to learn both systems.
  • Provides clinical and/or laboratory instruction to students in the dental hygiene program.
  • Provides supervision over the student in the clinical/lab setting.
  • Keeps attendance and assigns students in their clinical rotations.
  • Implements the Typhon clinical tracking program during all clinical experiences.
  • Evaluates student clinical/lab skills utilizing the program evaluation forms.
  • Provides constructive feedback to students regarding overall progress.
  • Assesses and reports the student’s progress to the Program Director and ClinicalCoordinator.
  • Provides a positive learning environment for student development and success.
  • Participates in the adjunct faculty conferences and dental hygiene program facultymeetings.
  • Participates in the outcomes assessment process.
  • Adheres to contractual obligations.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a CODA accredited education program in Dental Hygiene.
  • Minimum of a Bachelors’ Degree in Dental Hygiene or related area
  • Current NJ Dental Hygiene license required.
  • Minimum of five years of current clinical experience.
  • Teaching experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Rates and Benefits

  • Adjunct rates range from $950 to $960. The pay rates are $950 for a Bachelor's and $960 for a Master's.
  • Tuition Waiver for BCC courses for themselves or their dependents
  • ABP and 403b
