General responsibilities
The Child Care Teacher is responsible for the education and care services offered through CCM Health’s Child Care Center. This person will plan age-appropriate lessons for cognitive, physical, and social emotional development; provide day-to-day care, and observe, assess, and document developmental milestones of children in their care. They are responsible for active supervision of children and following DCYF state licensing requirements.
Education/Training
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Must meet DHS Rule 3 Teacher education & experience requirements. See below.
- A high school diploma or commissioner of education-selected high school equivalency certification plus 4,160 hours worked as an assistant teacher OR
- Diploma from Association Montessori Internationale; preprimary credential, primary diploma, or provisional certificate from the American Montessori Society, without a baccalaureate degree plus 2,080 hours worked as an assistant teacher, aide, or student intern OR
- Preprimary credential, primary diploma, or provisional certificate from the American Montessori Society; or diploma from the Association Montessori Internationale with a baccalaureate degree plus 1,040 hours (6 months typically) experience as assistant teacher, aide, or student intern OR
- Minnesota technical institute certificate as a Child Development Assistant plus 2,080 hours worked as an assistant teacher OR
- Child Development Associate credential (center based or family day care) for preschool or for infants and toddlers from the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition plus 1,560 hours worked as assistant teacher, aide, or student intern OR
- License from the Minnesota Department of Education for Prekindergarten Associate; or a certificate or credential for a two-year program from an accredited community college or technical college in child development or early childhood education plus 1,040 hours worked as an assistant teacher, aide, or student intern OR
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in any field plus 1,040 hours worked as assistant teacher, aide, or student intern OR
- License from the Minnesota Department of Education for elementary education without kindergarten endorsement plus 520 hours worked as assistant teacher, aide, or student intern if teaching children under school age OR
- License from the Minnesota Department of Education for prekindergarten/nursery, or a license from the Minnesota Department of Education for elementary education with a kindergarten endorsement

Experience
- Experience in Lesson planning, observing, assessing, and documenting skills
