BASIC PURPOSE The purpose of this position is to create a safe enjoyable and enriching experience for children participating in our summer day camp program of the Tri-Cities Corps. The staff members play a crucial role in facilitating a variety of activities, ensuring the well-being of campers, fostering a positive and inclusive environment. By engaging with campers, promoting teamwork, and adhering to safety guidelines, providing spiritual development, social direction, and educational reinforcement while at the same time utilizing recreational activities.

Essential duties and responsibilities 1.

Demonstrate a passion for working with Children in a learning environment 2.

Assist teaching music instrument and music theory 3.

Assist staff with supervision, guidance and caring for children in an educational, enrichment and recreational setting.

4.

Provide encouraging instruction to students during group activities.

5.

Assist staff with the supervision of safety of campers during arrival, dismissal, and transition periods.

6.

Assist the Director of Group Leader in the planning, teaching of lessons, homework support and activities.

7.

Assist in maintaining discipline and encouraging children to follow rules.

8.

Assist in general set up and clean up of program area and with the closing /opening of the facility.

9.

Assist staff with Field trip arrangements 10.

Maintaining a safe environment.

Knowledge, skills, abilities and other qualification requirements 1.

Knowledge of music instruments, able to teach music instruments and music theory 2.

Must have the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

3.

Valid California Drivers’ License 4.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and basic desktop publishing computer programs.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
  • Ability to reach overhead
  • Ability to operate telephone
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs
  • Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
