The MET Church is located on the Northwest side of Houston and our mission is to invite people into meaningful relationship with God and each other. About This Role: The Special Needs Ministry exists to create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children, students, and adults with special needs can experience the love of Jesus and participate fully in the life of the church. This part-time role serves primarily on Sunday mornings and supports participants with diverse abilities through meaningful relationships, individualized care, and active engagement in ministry activities. Working alongside ministry leaders and volunteers, you will help create an environment where every person feels valued, included, and supported. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys serving others, has a heart for people with special needs, and wants to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families.

Duties & Responsibilities

Live out the core virtues and mission of The MET to invite others into meaningful relationship with God and each other. Provide compassionate care and support to participants during Sunday ministry environments. Serve alongside ministry leaders and volunteers to foster a safe, welcoming, and engaging ministry experience. Assist participants with activities, transitions, communication, and engagement during ministry programming. Build Christ-centered relationships with participants and their families. Follow individualized care plans and ministry guidelines as directed by ministry leaders. Communicate observations, needs, and celebrations with Special Needs Ministry leaders. Help create an environment where every participant feels known, valued, and included. Encourage participants in their spiritual growth and engagement with the church community. Support inclusion by helping participants meaningfully participate in worship, classes, and ministry activities. Uphold all church safety policies, procedures, and background check requirements. Your Qualifications: Education & Experience You are a fully committed follower of Jesus Christ. You faithfully attend a local church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with The MET Church and our Statement of Faith. Actively involved in a discipleship small group (strongly preferred). Proven work experience working with individuals with a wide range of disabilities and ages. Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain a calm and patient demeanor with all students. Hours and Work Environment: This is a part-time, hourly position. Anticipated work schedule is about 1.5 to 3 hours on Sunday mornings. Ministry Care staff are not guaranteed a minimum number of hours per week. This person must also be able to handle the physical requirements that often come with working with persons of disabilities. They must be able to help support the weight of an individual who has physical difficulties and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. They must also be able to kneel, sit on the floor, squat, crawl, etc. to help support the physical needs of the individual.
