About the role

Provide one-on-one nursing care for a 3rd grade student, including health screenings and the management of acute health problems. Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with families, physicians, and school staff.

  • Range: RN's pay ranges from $39-42 an hour
  • Shift: full time, 745am-415pm Monday through Friday (5 DAYS PER WEEK) starting Aug 24th - No weekends or holidays

As a nurse, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do

Elicits a comprehensive health history from the patient and/or parents and caregivers, to reflect physical and emotional health, developmental/social well-being and immunization status.

Performs health screens, physical exams, and age-appropriate developmental evaluations.

Orders and/or performs pertinent diagnostic tests.

Analyzes health history and interprets other data collected to determine health status and care needs.

Develops, implements, evaluates, and modifies care plans, as needed, in collaboration with the client, family, school, physician, and community as applicable.

Records all pertinent data.

Manages acute and emergency health problems in the school context and coordinates services needed for optimal health, safety and learning.

Participates in the implementation of a planned health education curriculum in the schools.

Completes other assignments as requested and assigned.

May have access to personal health information (“PHI”) necessary to fulfill the above duties and responsibilities. Access to use and ability to disclose PHI is further defined by each organization/department.

A few must-haves for RNs

  • Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program and active RN license in Michigan
  • CPR certification
  • Knowledge of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations
  • Demonstrated clinical proficiency, critical thinking skills, good communicator and compassionate
  • One year pediatric experience with trach and vent

Requirements

Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program with an active Michigan RN license and CPR certification. Requires at least one year of pediatric experience specifically with tracheostomy and ventilator care.
