The teacher develops and implements instructional programs for hospitalized children and adolescents. They are also responsible for communicating student progress and test results to school personnel and attending physicians.
A valid teaching license or certificate is required. A degree from a four-year accredited institution and 1-3 years of experience in a behavioral health setting are preferred.
The teacher is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of instructional programs to all assigned, hospitalized children and adolescents. The teacher is directly responsible for regular communication to school personnel and attending physicians regarding assignments, test results, special education needs, and behavioral reports, within the hospital’s educational setting. The teacher is responsible for administering, and reporting approved testing instruments ordered by attending physicians or given by the classroom teacher to affected personnel.
