The Villages Charter School (VCS) opened in August 2000 and is one of the most successful public charter schools in Florida. The Villages Charter School spans two campuses. Our Buffalo Ridge campus has three elementary attendance centers and one middle school building. Our newest campus, “Middleton”, opened in August 2023 with a K-8 center and a state-of-the-art high school complex.

VCS currently serves over 4100 students, kindergarten through 12th grades with an overall capacity of 6500 (500 students per grade level) across both campuses.

Description

The Villages Charter School is accepting applications for a Clinic Assistant to work with our after-school program, Buffalo Adventures. Position is on our Buffalo Ridge campus. Hours are 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm Monday-Friday.

Applicants must complete The Villages Charter School online application. In order for the application to be complete, you must also include copies of all transcripts, resume, and current Florida Department of Health Nursing Certification.

Scope of responsibilities

Provides health care services to students by performing the following duties.

Essential functions

The expectations include the following and other duties as assigned

  • Plans school health program, in cooperation with medical authority and administrative school personnel.
  • Participates in medical examinations and reviews findings to evaluate health status of pupils and progress of program.
  • Cooperates with school personnel in identifying and meeting social, emotional and physical needs of school children.
  • Administers and provides first-aid and maintains health records of students.
  • Performs monthly head checks and re-checks.
  • Counsels students in good health habits.
  • Works with community agencies to meet needs of children outside school situations.
  • Maintains a log in the clinic documenting medication and/or treatment given.
  • Assist at Front Desk as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and other professionals.
  • Reviews curriculum in health classes and assists, as needed, in the classroom.
  • Assists in programs for care of disabled children.

Qualifications

  • Fifth Year College or University program certificate; or
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Trained with Epi Pen, 1st Responder to include CPR and First Aid

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate.

Terms of employment

Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be part-time for 183 days. Benefits shall be paid consistent with the VCS policy. Length of the work year and hours of employment are those established by the Board.
