Job Description
Position Summary
The Substitute Teacher plays a vital role in ensuring instructional continuity and student supervision in the absence of regular classroom teachers. This full-time, school-based position supports daily academic operations by providing consistent, high-quality coverage across grade levels and content areas as needed. The ideal candidate is flexible, dependable, and able to implement lesson plans with fidelity while maintaining a positive and structured learning environment. In addition to classroom coverage, the Substitute may assist with supervision duties and support broader school initiatives aligned to the school’s academic and culture goals. This is an on-site position; remote work is not available for this role. Essential Functions Provide instructional coverage for classroom teachers during absences, including full-day, partial-day, and last-minute assignments. Implement lesson plans provided by the teacher with fidelity, ensuring continuity of instruction and classroom routines. Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment aligned with school expectations and policies. Take accurate student attendance and submit it promptly per school procedures. Supervise students during class, transitions, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties. Communicate any notable student behaviors, incidents, or academic concerns to the appropriate school staff. Support classroom procedures, including the use of behavior management systems and reinforcement strategies. Perform duties in both general education and special education settings as needed. Assist with school-wide duties such as arrival, dismissal, hallway transitions, or event supervision when not covering a classroom. Collaborate with school leadership and instructional teams as needed to support the academic and cultural vision of the school. Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and uphold professional conduct at all times. Be flexible and responsive to daily assignment changes and school needs.
