The Swim Instructor is responsible for providing safe, engaging, and effective swim lessons for residents of all ages and skill levels within the HOA community. The instructor promotes water safety, develops swimming skills, and creates a positive learning environment while ensuring compliance with all pool rules and safety standards.
- Essential duties and responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group swim lessons for children, teens, and adults.
- Assess participant skill levels and develop lesson plans appropriate for age and ability.
- Teach water safety, stroke development, breathing techniques, and aquatic confidence.
- Monitor swimmers during lessons to ensure safety and adherence to pool regulations.
- Maintain accurate attendance and participant progress records.
- Communicate with parents and participants regarding goals, progress, and recommendations.
- Assist with scheduling lessons and coordinating aquatics programs.
- Support HOA aquatic events, swim clinics, and recreational programming as needed.
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, stored, and utilized safely.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and administer first aid/CPR when necessary.
- Maintain a clean, professional, and welcoming pool environment.
Qualifications
- Required
- Minimum age of 16 years (or as required by state law).
- Current Swim Instructor certification (AEA, WSI, or equivalent).
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Strong swimming proficiency and knowledge of aquatic safety practices.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Physical requirements
- Ability to swim proficiently and demonstrate swimming techniques.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to enter and exit the pool repeatedly during lessons.
Compensation
Compensation is based on the instructor’s lesson rate and the number of participants enrolled in each clinic/session. Final hourly earnings may vary depending on experience, scheduling, and clinic participation levels.
