Job description

  • Grand Canyon University’s Canyon Health & Wellness Clinic is hiring an Athletic Trainer Tech as a student worker position.
  • This position serves the GCU community by assisting the staff to care for and treat injuries in the Lopes Orthopedic Clinic.
  • The clinic provides rehabilitative care, educates the GCU community on injury prevention, rehabilitation, wellness and other health related issues.
  • Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions: Assist staff Athletic Trainer with patient care by utilizing appropriate and up-to-date clinical techniques to effectively assess and treat injuries.
  • Communicates with staff and patients about their conditions, treatments and rehab progressions.
  • Assists in setting up and completing therapeutic modality treatments under staff supervision Implements rehabilitation and treatment programs for patients in conjunction with staff oversight.
  • Provides instructional guidance for patients in rehabilitation exercises.
  • Develops home exercise programs for patients and performs follow up visits to review status of exercise programs in its rehabilitative measures.
  • Understands and comply with all CAATE standards relevant to clinical athletic training education.
  • Assists in conducting injury screening and assessments for students, staff and/or faculty of GCU.
  • Assists with day to day operations of the orthopedic clinic (e.g. stocking supplies, cleaning, equipment maintenance, answering phones, etc.) Completes all documentation in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Pre-Athletic Training, Pre Physical Therapy or Exercise Science student preferred Certifications: CPR, AED, First Aid.
