Job description

Department of ISDS Instructional Student Assistant Pool

Position

The Department of ISDS at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant Pool.

Assist faculty with evaluating student work, maintaining student records, proctoring examinations, and attend course lectures for 120 capacity classes.

This is a pool of Instructional Student Assistant for the department to draw on as necessary.

Appointments from the pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants may be offered employment on very short notice.

  • Required qualifications
  • Candidates must be a currently enrolled student.
  • Able to collect and organize student submissions made through hard copy, Canvas, and/or other digital submission.
  • Read, evaluate, and assign grades to student work. Maintain and submit student grades.
  • Meet regularly with a faculty supervisor, in-person, by phone, or by email.
  • Meet deadlines defined by university policy and/or supervisor.
  • Complete student worker training as required.
  • Excellent computer skills including Canvas, Office, Excel and PowerPoint and other spreadsheet and data entry experience.
  • Type 40 CWAM and have a working knowledge of library and internet research.
  • Must have an excellent command of English – both oral and written
  • Able to follow directions with minimal supervision, show initiative, be reliable, and the ability to assist with large classes

Compensation

All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers. Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range

$17.86 - $23.84 per hour Anticipated hiring range depending on qualification, not to exceed $20.00 per hour
