Job description
Established in 1970, Boley Centers, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization serving individuals with mental disabilities, individuals and families who are homeless, Veterans and youth in Pinellas County.
Boley Centers, Inc., a nationally recognized and accredited behavioral health care agency, has an opening for a full-time Youth Employment Counselor (YEC) to assist youth with obtaining community-based employment. At least 70% of the YEC's work time will be devoted to providing employment assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Carries out all phases of employment services including intake engagement, assessment, job development and follow-along support.
- Initiates and maintains regular communication with employers in the community to develop opportunities and monitor participant job performance.
- Conducts regular meetings with youth to ensure they are adjusting on the job, are satisfied with the job and to determine necessary changes or adjustments, if any, to better ensure the youths' and employers' levels of satisfaction.
- Maintains documentation related to the youths' progress, including bi-weekly notes.
- Collects data regarding job placements and submits weekly reports to the YEC Team Leader and Program Manager.
- Meets with the Family Support Coordinator weekly to discuss participants’ employment needs and work readiness.
- Education and experience
- Bachelor's degree required. Human Services or related major preferred. Education must be from an accredited school, college, or university.
- At least one year of experience in human services, business, job placement, vocational counseling or rehabilitation. Relevant internship or volunteer experience may be considered in meeting minimum experience requirements.
- Knowledge of behavioral or other techniques and job development and related activities preferred.
- Special requiremnts
- Valid Florida driver's license, own transportation vehicle and insurance required.
- Must pass a Level 2 background check and drug screen
