About the role

The Case Manager coordinates academic and housing accommodations for students with disabilities to ensure equal access to college programs. Additionally, the role serves as a Student Success Advisor and a member of the Care Team to provide holistic student support.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Disability Services & Student Support, the Case Manager coordinates accommodations and support services for students with disabilities. This role ensures equal access to the College’s academic programs by facilitating appropriate accommodations and providing support for students with a wide range of disabilities, including but not limited to medical, psychological, and learning disabilities. In addition, in collaboration with the Dean of Students Office, the Case Manager serves as a Student Success Advisor and is an active member of Oxy’s Care Team.

Job Duties

40% - Responsible for reviewing and evaluating accommodation requests and supporting documentation to determine reasonable academic and housing accommodations for students. Participate in the interactive process to ensure that students’ accommodation needs are effectively addressed. Maintain accurate and comprehensive records for all students receiving services through Disability Services and clearly communicate policies and procedures to students, faculty, and staff as needed. Ensure that accommodation letters are accurate and delivered in a timely manner. Meet with students to provide ongoing support, including guidance on time management and learning strategies, and make appropriate referrals to other campus resources. Serve as an advocate for students within the assigned caseload and act as a liaison between students and faculty or staff on matters related to disability services and accommodations. - (Essential)

15% - Adhere to FERPA regulations while maintaining records and reports required by the College, as well as by state and federal agencies, related to programs, policies, and trends. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Serve as a test proctor in the testing center as needed to support accommodated testing. Collaborate with Emmons Wellness Center on mentoring psychological testing interns, contributing to their training and development in disability services. - (Essential)

15% - Support students by advising them on available campus resources and connecting them with appropriate services to promote both academic and personal success. Participate in drop-in office hours to provide accessible support, and offer ongoing assistance to students registered with Disability Services through individualized check-ins. - (Essential)

15% - As a member of Oxy’s Care Team, monitor incoming electronic Care reports and respond appropriately to ensure timely support for students. Actively participate in weekly Care Team meetings to coordinate interventions and share relevant updates. When students are unable to attend class or participate in other activities—such as work, athletics, or campus involvement—due to serious illness, injury, or hospitalization, issue recommendations for academic flexibility to faculty and other relevant parties. - (Essential)

10% - Assist students in navigating campus policies, procedures, and petition processes related to the Office of the Registrar, Student Progress Committee petitions, Financial Aid, and Residential Education and Housing Services. Provide guidance to ensure students understand requirements and support them in completing necessary forms and applications. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Education Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or related field to position duties or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience working with individuals with a range of disabilities, including psychological/psychiatric disorders, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret psychological evaluations.
  • Proficient knowledge of ADA and Section 504 of the rehabilitation act and awareness of legal and ethical considerations in disability services in higher education.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google drives/folders/forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing, and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Strong commitment to a quality work product.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically.
  • Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience providing case management or student support services in a higher education setting.

Expected hiring range: $70,304/yr

  • If you are offered this position at Occidental College, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and/or geographic location.
  • In addition to those factors, Occidental complies with applicable pay equity laws and considers internal equity among current employees when developing the final offer.
  • Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the base salary range for the role.
  • Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
  • We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.

Requirements

A Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field is required, along with two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities. Candidates must possess strong knowledge of ADA and Section 504 regulations and the ability to interpret psychological evaluations.
