The Instructor is responsible for developing and delivering the EMT-B training curriculum to prepare students for the New York State state exam. This includes creating lesson plans, evaluating student progress, and maintaining accurate enrollment and performance records.
Candidates must hold a current New York State EMT-B or EMT-P certification, a CPR certification, and a high school diploma. Applicants must be at least 19 years old and capable of lifting up to 125 lbs unassisted.
The Empress EMS Academy Instructor is responsible for the instructional development of Academy students, preparing them to successfully pass the New York State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) State Exam. Under the general supervision of the Course Sponsor and the Director of Clinical Education, the Instructor organizes, administers, and evaluates the effectiveness of the training curriculum in accordance with all applicable New York State guidelines and protocols.
Primarily an indoor classroom setting with occasional exposure to outdoor and hazardous conditions, blood/body fluids, fumes/odors, temperature changes, and extended days. Respirator use may be required. The role involves frequent face-to-face interaction with others and exposure to noise, mechanical equipment, and electrical equipment.
The employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Frequently required to stand and walk; and to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must frequently lift and/or carry up to 125 lbs. unassisted and up to 300 lbs. as part of a two-person crew. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
