Position Title: After School Support Specialist Reports To: Beyond School Administrator Status: Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Starting at $16-$18 per hour Typical Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (hours may vary based on program needs and school calendar)
Atlas Public Schools is seeking energetic, reliable, and student-centered individuals to join our Beyond School team as After School Support Specialists. This role supports the supervision, engagement, and safety of students participating in after-school programming.
This position is ideal for individuals interested in education, youth development, classroom support, or pursuing a future career in teaching. Successful candidates will help create a positive, engaging, and safe environment where students can learn, play, and build relationships after the school day ends.
Essential Responsibilities Supervise groups of students during after-school programming.
Lead and support recreational, enrichment, academic, and social-emotional activities.
Assist with student transitions, attendance, snack distribution, and dismissal procedures.
Build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate behavioral expectations.
Support students in resolving conflicts and making positive choices.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times.
Communicate effectively with school staff and program leadership.
Assist with setup, cleanup, and organization of program spaces and materials.
Follow all Atlas Public Schools policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Perform other duties as assigned to support student success and program operations.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree, college coursework, or experience working with children preferred. Previous experience in education, childcare, summer camps, youth programs, coaching, or related fields preferred. Ability to effectively supervise and engage groups of children. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to maintain professionalism and reliability in a school environment. Successful completion of all required background checks and employment screenings.
Physical Requirements Ability to actively supervise students in classrooms, hallways, gymnasiums, playgrounds, and outdoor spaces. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the duration of the shift. Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
