Counselors will be assigned to a unit/group of same-age campers that best fits their preferences, experiences and the needs of the camp.
They will work with fellow counselors to manage campers, facilitate and participate in camp activities, and build valuable peer-to-peer connections.
Responsibilities
Plan and lead age-appropriate sports, recreational games, and adventure-based activities for campers Teach fundamental athletic skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition Facilitate outdoor challenges, team-building exercises, and adventure activities that encourage confidence and leadership Supervise campers and ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive camp environment Prepare, organize, and maintain sports equipment, activity materials, and outdoor program spaces Encourage physical fitness, cooperation, resilience, and personal growth among campers Engage positively in camp life in a variety of weather and locations – indoors, outside, aquatics area, in the rain, summer heat, and beyond! Qualifications
Experience working or volunteering with youth in a recreation, or similar setting, preferred Knowledge of sports, outdoor recreation, and group activity facilitation Must be willing and able to obtain CPR & First Aid Certifications, or currently hold Must be available to attend camp trainings before and throughout camp season Able to bring a patient, caring, responsible, flexible and positive attitude to work Position Specifics: Specialty Camps run 7/6-7/10, 7/13-7/17, 7/20-7/24 Camp season runs 06/22/26 through 08/27/27 and must be able to work at least 3 camp weeks in addition to those listed above Pay range $12.75 - $15.00 hr depending upon experience Year-round employment opportunities are available with the YMCA.
