The Nurse Apprentice participates in a structured immersion program to gain clinical experience and observe healthcare team components before transitioning to a residency. Responsibilities include attending skill labs, synthesizing patient assessments, and learning high reliability organization principles.
Candidates must be graduates of an Associate Degree or BSN program with a minimum 3.0 GPA and must register for the NCLEX exam. Proficiency in communication and computer skills is required, with PCT training and BLS certification preferred.
Learns and understands the Nursing Strategic Plan and Quality Outcome drivers that impact patient care. Attends skill labs/simulation labs, equipment exposure and immersion opportunities (ex. Clinical Outcomes, special procedure pre & post, respiratory department, Infection Prevention). Synthesizes components of assessment in an ongoing and systematic manner focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status. May not give medications or initiate Intravenous Therapy. Attends and observes selected hospital-wide committee meetings. Submits reflections on experiences. Will gain exposure on how to create a safe patient environment by learning the principles of a high reliability organization. Attends and participates in learning experiences with the goal to educate the apprentice on different aspects of nursing at HMH. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Graduate of Associate Degree or BSN program (GPA-minimum 3.0) *New RNs hired without a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing will be required to obtain a BSN within 3 years as a condition of employment Show proof of submission to authorize for testing and must register for licensure exam within three weeks of receiving authorization to test Proof of completion of all academic requirements must be provided if the degree has not yet been granted Ability to work varied days and varied hours The ability to learn quickly in immersive environments Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office platforms Patient Care Technician (PCT) training preferred BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification preferred Starting Minimum Rate Flat Rate of $42.21 Hourly Job Posting Disclosure HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members.
