The Special Education Inclusion Teacher will primarily support students within the general education classroom, creating a culture of high achievement and ownership over learning. Responsibilities include providing daily instruction aligned to Friendship's curriculum, incorporating creative learning experiences, and differentiating instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree and preferably have two years of Special Education teaching experience with demonstrated high student achievement results. Applicants must also satisfy content area requirements, such as passing the ETS Praxis II Exam or holding a valid Special Education Teaching License.
Special Education Resource Teacher: A special education teacher who primarily supports students outside of the general education setting in a learning environment where all students in the space are students who receive specialized services for that content area. Create a classroom culture of high achievement and student ownership of their learning that fosters students’ intellectual, social, and emotional development. Provide daily instruction, including clear learning outcomes, well-designed lessons, and high-quality assessments that align to Friendship’s curriculum and standards. Incorporate into lessons creative, hands-on learning experiences that broaden students’ exposure and interests, foster student ingenuity, and require application of knowledge and skills acquired through daily instruction. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners by employing varied teaching strategies, scaffolding, flexible grouping, and individualized supports to ensure all students can access the curriculum, achieve mastery, and thrive academically. Establish and maintain a classroom environment that is visually appealing, rich with resources aligned to curriculum and standards, and honors student achievement with current and accurate displays of exemplary student work. Communicate effectively with students to understand their talents, interests, and needs while conveying learning expectations and providing regular feedback on their progress toward meeting those expectations. Communicate regularly with families to identify students’ talents, interests, and needs, and provide updates regarding students’ achievements and progress. Collaborate with school-based staff and throughout the Friendship network in staff meetings, regular analysis sessions, and professional learning designed to enhance students’ learning experiences and increase student achievement. Write and implement SMART goals for IEPs and 504 plans to ensure students with disabilities receive personalized, measurable, and achievable support aligned with their educational needs.
Experience in the role preferred Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university Two years of Special Education teaching experience and results demonstrating high student achievement and significant growth preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills At least ONE of the following: Successful completion of the content area ETS Praxis II Exam Valid Special Education Teaching License Degree in content area
