Facilitate a variety of camp activities including games, crafts, and outdoor adventures for children. Ensure a safe and positive environment by adhering to YMCA safety standards and policies.
Candidates must be at least 16 years old and possess experience working with school-aged children. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required or must be obtained through the YMCA.
Support Camp Leadership: Under the direct supervision of the director, work as part of a dynamic team to create a fun, safe, and challenging environment for campers. Assistin implementing the core values of the YMCA through activities like gym games, arts and crafts, and group challenges. Lead Activities: Facilitate a variety of camp activities, such as group games, arts and crafts, team-building exercises, and outdoor adventures. Engage campers in creative play and encourage participation in all activities. Ensure Safety: Follow all YMCA safety and cleanliness standards to ensure a safe environment for campers. Be proactive in identifying and addressing any potential hazards or issues. Follow YMCA Policies: Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical situations, emergencies, child abuse prevention, and discipline. Ensure that all actions align with the YMCA’s standards for safety and respect. Maintain Positive Relationships: Build and maintain positive relationships with campers, parents, and fellow staff members. Model positive communication and relationship-building skills in all interactions. Attend Meetings & Trainings: Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other required events to ensure you’re prepared and aligned with camp goals. Be Reliable & Flexible: Show up on time for all shifts and be flexible to accommodate unexpected changes, including working. Must be 16 years or older. Knowledge of age-appropriate practices and experience working with children, preferably school aged. Maturity to make practical decisions under the direct supervision of other staff. Become certified or supply documentation of current certification in CPR and First Aid (can be complete through the YMCA). Enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable.
