Candidates must be at least 21 years old and pass comprehensive background, drug, and health screenings. External applicants need one year of experience with at-risk youth or 60 hours of related college education.

The California Qualifying Houses offer young women a normalized high school experience while developing transition and independent living skills using our Integrated Care Model program. This unique program offers students opportunities for positive change and unlimited potential for achievement. The Q-House has served this population since 1984.
Starting at $25 an hour.
Regarding insurance coverage: You will be eligible for Medical insurance on the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment. You will be eligible for the rest of the Rite of Passage Benefits Package immediately after 90 days of full-time employment., and 403b match of up to 6% after 1 year of employment, Paid Time Off that can be used as soon as it accrues and more! The primary responsibilities of a Senior Coach Counselor / Group Living Counselor are to provide safety and around-the-clock supervision of at-risk youth. This position provides for the physical, personal and health needs of each student through individual counseling and behavioral/social/physical and educational skill development; provides an atmosphere that is supportive of the needs of the students; monitors and documents student behaviors and activities; participates and assists with educational, social, athletic and recreational activities; works in collaboration with other professional staff to establish and/or meet the goals of each student’s treatment plan.
Be empathetic, patient, consistent, compassionate, have an honest work ethic, and treat others with respect ~ Be at least 21 years of age ~ Internal applicants must be a Coach Counselor with no less than standard performance and at least 90 days of experience at Rite of Passage in a Coach Counselor or high Direct Care Position ~ Staff in this position must have completed Initial Qualifications Training (Tech 22) prior to placement in this position ~ External candidates must have 1 year prior experience working with at-risk youth in a similar position as a Coach Counselor or higher Direct Care position with at-risk youth in a similar position as a Coach Counselor or higher Direct Care position or at least 60 hours of college education in a directly related field of study ~ Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test ~ Be able to pass a search of the child abuse central registry.
