Position Summary

  • Full-time, 12-month faculty employee contract
  • The normal workweek requires a five-day workweek and includes a minimum of 37.5 hours per week at an approved campus work site for instruction, office hours, and community and college service.

Instructors are responsible for teaching students in our training programs in classroom, hands-on lab settings, and clinical, ensuring that they gain the knowledge and skills that are required for entry-level employment in their chosen field. Instructors are also responsible for sound educational practices and the academic development of each student. Instructors will also manage their classroom environment and promote a positive and engaging learning experience, provide support, tutoring and other assistance as needed. Instructors are to “model" the professional behaviors, language, and activities expected of our students.

Essential job functions and responsibilities

  • Holistic Student Support
  • Models compassionate professionalism as an example to students.
  • Understanding the idea that not everyone learns in the same way i.e. to improve learning, we can tailor our strategies, rather than just trying harder, studying more, and so on.
  • Integrate programs, activities, and initiatives to optimize the student experience.
  • Providing a list of study strategies, introducing many possibilities for learning that go beyond the student’s current practices.
  • Prompting students to select and try various study strategies.
  • Monitor student progress to promote student success
  • Provide counseling resources as needed.
  • Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation
  • Develop, adapt, and improve programs and services in response to changing environments, and evolving institutional priorities.
  • Provide educational opportunities and experiences to students in leadership, social responsibility, and global citizenship.
  • Utilize classroom and lab instruction, student assessment mechanisms, and classroom management techniques to provide an engaged learning experience to students.
  • Ensure that each student has been presented with the material to successfully meet the learning objectives of each course within a student’s program of study
  • Ensure that instructional materials and equipment are ready for student use, sufficient in quantity, are properly maintained and are in working order prior to class time
  • Organizational Culture
  • Maintain a solid understanding of College goals and priorities as they relate to the student experience.
  • Participate in ongoing faculty assessment and professional development activities to ensure an active and engaged classroom experience for all students; maintain required certification and license
  • Actively participate in meetings, review and analyze assessment data, compile reports, and meet academic and administrative deadlines
  • Ensure campus compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory bodies’ guidelines, along with internal policies of the college.
  • Fiscal Stewardship
  • Manage the financial resources in accordance with College policies, values, and within the fiscal realities of the College.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Active and unencumbered registered nurse license in the state of Tennessee
  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) with three years of Clinical Experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) with three years of Clinical Experience.
  • Active and unencumbered registered nurse license in the state of Tennessee

SKILLS

  • Computer proficiency utilizing routine office software such as MS Office Suite, email, internet, database/s, and virtual meeting platforms required.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication; organization and problem-solving; planning; and interpersonal skills consistent with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to deal constructively with difficult situations and people and to resolve conflicts rationally and judiciously.
  • Ability to work with people of various viewpoints, cultural backgrounds, and skill levels.

Commensurate with experience and according to the salary guidelines of the Tennessee Board of Regents.

Requirements

Requires an active Tennessee registered nurse license and a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with three years of clinical experience. A Master of Science in Nursing and prior teaching experience are preferred.
