Provides coaching and technical assistance to early childhood programs to improve the quality of care and education. Collaborates with administrators to develop and implement Quality Improvement Plans through monitoring and training.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with at least 5 years of experience in a regulated early childhood setting. Must possess a valid AZ driver's license and be able to pass a criminal background check.
Orients and enrolls childcare center, group home and family home care staff to the Quality First program. Meets with program administrators and childcare staff to review assessment findings and engage in a dialogue about results. Collaborates with program administrators and childcare staff to develop a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP). Assists in the implementation of the QIP through regular monitoring and coaching visits that include training, modeling, providing resources, support reflective conversation, technical assistance, etc. Plans and implements training and technical assistance on topics relevant to the needs of the program utilizing adult learning theory and interactive training techniques. Collaborates with program staff to develop and submit requests for incentive purchases to support QIP goals. Submits accurate and complete reports as per program guidelines and according to program timelines. Supports an integrated team process for service delivery, engages in collaborative activities with other technical assistance providers working in a childcare site. Adheres to EBF core values, the program’s Implementation Manual and Service Delivery Plan, and the funder’s Standards of Practice. As a mandated reporter, follows agency and statutory reporting policy and procedures which includes a timely response to incidents, notification of supervisor and use of the Critical Incident form. Participates in the process of ongoing professional development and meetings. Maintains comprehensive communication among all contacts within the agency, members, and external agencies. Models professional standards and ethics in accordance with EBF Code of Conduct, Strategic Plan, Mission, and Vision. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a Bachelor’s degree that includes at least 18 college credits in ECE, Child Development, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education or a related field with 5 years of experience working in a regulated early childhood setting with children birth through 8 years of age required. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. Regulatory Must be at least 21 years of age. Current, unrestricted AZ driver’s license with no more than two (2) minor moving violations or one (1) accident within the past three (3 years). Three (3) years of driving experience required. Must be able to pass a criminal background check prior to employment and regular checks for the duration of the employment. Transportation for daily visits, to attend trainings, and perform other work-related activities. Organizational vehicles may not be available at all times. Ability to obtain and maintain an AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance card (employer provides). Ability to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification (Employer provides). Skills/Job Knowledge/Abilities: Able to establish and maintain a team atmosphere of communication and collaboration for all that reach out to the Department. Must be self-directed and be sensitive to cultural and linguistic diversity. Excellent customer service in stressful situations. Maintains a professional appearance, communications, and actions. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Independent judgment and discretion in setting daily priorities to complete tasks. Knowledge of adult learning principles and practices of multi-method instruction. Ability to accurately read, record, and interpret information, including assessments. Ability to present skills and techniques in accordance with adult learning standards. Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships in the community, including other technical assistance providers. Ability to develop and maintain a dual focus on relationships with participants and program activities by fostering a strengths-based approach. Knowledge of community resources and referrals in the community. Possess a high level of computer proficiency.
Field position visiting different childcare sites or home-care providers. Will work in outside and inside environments, as needed. Daily travel to member homes and other locations. Interacts with employees and members of the public daily. May lift normal office equipment and materials up to 25lbs. Visual acuity to read information from computer screens and form and assess participants' wellbeing. Able to communicate verbally with program participants as needed for daily operations. Hearing ability for communication in persona, phone, and/or other electronic methods. Manual dexterity for typing and writing. Able to stoop, squat, reach, pull, push, stretch, ascend and descend stairs, stand and sit for long periods of time. May be required to work additional hours or days depending on circumstances.
