Job description

Overview

The ESL Instructor provides specialized instruction for various state and federally funded programs intended to engage a diverse population of learners. For the purposes of developing refugees and immigrants’ ability to effectively perform courses of study in English and acquire the English language.

This is a part-time position.

  • Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and provide instruction in English that meet state and federal standards
  • Provide instruction that is consistent and coordinated with the instructional program so as to ensure that learners meet and exceed learning targets
  • Provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages the learner responsibility and incorporates challenging instructional strategies
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of the learner
  • Administer academic and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating the learners progress for meeting academic learning targets and progress in language acquisition
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferable in Education or related discipline (Or with a minimum of three years TESOL experience is required)

    • Training requirements
    • Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training
    • Satisfactory completion of funder required trainings upon hire and on an annual basis
    • Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources
    • Physical demands
    • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity
    • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands
    • Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying; and
    • Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
