  • Purpose: - To guide and support students in achieving their academic goals by providing individualized coaching, resources, and strategies for success. This role will focus on fostering student self-advocacy, developing effective learning strategies, and connecting students with appropriate college resources.

  • Responsibilities: - Provide individualized academic coaching to students, focusing on goal setting, time management, study skills, and learning strategies. - Conduct regular check-ins with assigned students to monitor progress, address challenges, and provide ongoing support. - Assist students in identifying and accessing appropriate college resources, such as tutoring, academic advising, disability services, and financial aid. - Develop and deliver workshops and presentations on topics related to academic success, including study skills, time management, and stress management. - Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and other college staff to create a supportive and successful learning environment for students. - Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress. - Assess student needs and develop individualized success plans. - Promote student self-advocacy and empower students to take ownership of their academic journey. - Stay current on best practices in academic coaching and student support services. - Contribute to the development and implementation of programs and initiatives designed to enhance student success.

  • Knowledge and
  • Skills: Experience At least two years working with students in the higher education is required. Experience working with students in a community college setting is preferred. Familiarity with working with diverse populations, counseling, advising, and/or tutoring at-risk students is strongly preferred. Education Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field preferred. This includes but is not limited to English and Mathematics. Experience in subject areas where mathematics is critical (i.e. chemistry, physics, engineering, etc.). Experience in subject area where English is critical (i.e. professional writing, creative writing, teaching English as a second language, etc.). Interpersonal Skills Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with administrators, faculty, staff members and a diverse student population. Must be an active listener who can adjust accordingly to institutional change. Technical Skills Working knowledge of current emerging computer hardware and software, including relevant ERP systems and all Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of Canvas and emergent digital learning platforms (Cengage, Macmillan Launchpad, McGraw-Hill, etc.) preferred. Other Skills Physical Requirements The work is mostly sedentary; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Work Environment Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office. Requirements

Requires at least two years of experience working with students in higher education, preferably in a community college setting. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Mathematics or English, is preferred.
