About the role

Provide instruction and guidance to youth with special needs in accordance with curriculum standards and Individual Education Plans (IEP). Create a safe and successful learning environment that encourages social, emotional, and academic growth.

Position Summary

The ESE/SPED Teacher role provides instruction and guidance to youth within the appropriate grade and/or academic level. Assess and teach youth with special needs in accordance to recognized curriculum standards, and compliance with instructional guidelines as defined by the local School District and educational systems. Primary objective is the realization of AMIkids mission to provide a safe and successful learning environment for youth, while encouraging social and emotional development through the achievement of academic and personal goals.

Essential Job Duties

Identify, prepare, and teach youth appropriately based on results from the Individual Education Plans (IEP), ensure re-assessments are provided as needed,

Effectively implement AMIkids Way (Kids First, Safety, and Family) and key elements of Positive Youth Development (Relationships, Meaningful Participation, Community Involvement, and Challenged & Engaged Programming) and the AMIkids Personal Growth Model (PGM) in all interactions with students,

Actively ensure all interactions reflect Kids First, Safety, Family, Relationships, Meaningful Participation, Challenge and Engaged environment and Community Involvement,

Interactions with youth shall maintain an environment that provides a physically/emotionally safe space for youth and effective learning, growth, and progress toward individualized goals,

  • Minimum Education, Training and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, the academic discipline being delivered, or related field,
  • Possess and maintain current SPED/ESE Teaching Certification,
  • Teaching or coursework experience, or other similar activity in area of primary instruction required; experience working with high-risk youth preferred

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field and a current SPED/ESE Teaching Certification. Experience in teaching or coursework in the primary instruction area is required, with a preference for experience with high-risk youth.
