About the role

Support targeted literacy intervention through small group and 1

1 instruction for elementary students. Assist the Literacy Intervention Teacher with instructional materials, data collection, and student supervision.

Our Mission Equitas Academy prepares students for college, careers, and life pursuits, and inspires them to be champions of equity. Primary Responsibilities:

Support the implementation of targeted literacy intervention for students through small group and 1:1 instruction.

Work with and assist the Literacy Intervention Teacher during the school day with instruction, intervention, and other duties needed.

Reinforce foundational literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Assist in preparing instructional materials, organizing resources, and setting up intervention groups and classroom structures.

Assist with administering formative assessments and progress monitoring tools as directed.

Support data collection for tools such as DIBELS, i-Ready, and other school-based assessments as needed.

Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess or other assigned times.

Participate in family meetings, engagement events, workshops, or conferences as appropriate.

Actively participate in professional development aimed at refining both school culture and academics.

Maintain high behavioral and academic expectations for students.

Enforce Equitas Academy’s positive discipline policies.

Follow policies and procedures for health, safety, and nutrition.

Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, and other stakeholders.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • AA degree required, BA degree preferred
  • 30 Day Emergency Sub Permit preferred
  • Criminal clearance, including fingerprints and TB Test
  • Previous experience working with and supervising children
  • Previous experience working with students
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Current CPR and 1st Aid Certificate within 3 months of employment Salary: Starting at $22/hour. This is a full-time, hourly position with benefits. Position Contingencies This position is funded through the California Department of Education (CDE) Literacy Coaches and Reading Specialists (LCRS) Grant Program through June 2029. \n

Requirements

Requires an Associate degree (Bachelor's preferred) and previous experience working with children. Preferred qualifications include a 30 Day Emergency Sub Permit and bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
