Position Overview Under the direction of the Athletic Director, the Head of Athletics, and the Soccer Program Head, the Upper School assistant soccer coach will assist with leadership and direction of the upper school soccer program where needed. The season will run from October through February. They must adhere to Milken Community School rules and regulations. The US Assistant Soccer Coach must support the student-athlete concept and demonstrate concern for the health, safety, and welfare of each student-athlete. They must support, encourage, and monitor student-athletes’ academic progress. Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and the Program Head. Responsibilities Instruct players on rules, techniques, equipment use, and game strategies. Assist in planning and leading practices, conditioning, and game-day operations. Mentor and supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and travel. Promote teamwork, discipline, and character development. Foster a positive and inclusive team environment. Monitor player development and assess skills during training and competition. Ensure compliance with CIF and school/league policies. Model appropriate behavior with players, officials, and spectators. Maintain team records, eligibility forms, and emergency data. Attend all practices, competitions, meetings, and team events. Rides the bus to and from practices and games. Qualifications Previous coaching and/or playing experience in soccer (min. of 2yrs) with knowledge of all aspects of the sport. Bachelor’s degree (preferred). US Soccer and/or United Soccer Coaches diplomas/certifications (preferred). Experience with student programs in a high school setting. Knowledge of CIF rules and regulations (preferred). Commitment to academic and athletic excellence. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. Standard On-Campus Hours Hours will vary based on athletic seasons and events; occasional Sundays, nights, and early mornings are required. *All schedules are subject to change.
