Hourly Rate

$25/hour, maximum 40 hours per week Location: Operation Shoestring, 1711 Bailey Avenue, Jackson, MS 39203 or Walton Elementary, 3200 Bailey Avenue, Jackson, MS 39213 Dates: Starting August 3, 2026 Time: 12:30 pm -5:30 pm JOB SUMMARY: The teacher is responsible for selecting, preparing and implementing standards-aligned math, reading, and STEM lessons/activities for a class of approximately 15 students. Teachers also accompany and supervise students on field trips, plan incentive awards/parties, track attendance, and maintain communication with parents. Teachers will lead arts/crafts activities, supervise play, and participate in experiential and service learning opportunities along with students. Teachers will participate in training sessions offered by Operation Shoestring. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, motivated and creative individual who has a passion for teaching and learning, bringing joy to children, and is comfortable interacting with the broader community. Some activities and events may take place outdoors and require a moderate level of movement and participation from program staff. Some light lifting (maximum 20 lbs.) will be required to load materials and supplies for field trips. Prior certified teaching is preferred, though not required.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a passion for teaching and working with children. While prior certified teaching experience is preferred, it is not strictly required for this role.
