Description The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for designing, implementing, and assessing developmentally appropriate PE lessons that promote physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, and overall student well-being. This role ensures a safe and inclusive environment for all students, fosters a love of physical activity, and contributes to the holistic development of each student. The PE Teacher collaborates with colleagues, communicates with families, and supports the school’s mission and educational goals.

Develop and deliver engaging PE lessons aligned with Core Knowledge/Classical curriculum standards. Plan age-appropriate activities that accommodate diverse student abilities and encourage participation. Teach students health-related fitness concepts, sportsmanship, motor skills, and cooperative play. Promote physical, social, and emotional development through structured activities and positive reinforcement. Ensure student safety by implementing proper procedures, maintaining equipment, and modeling safe practices. Maintain an organized, clean, and well-prepared gymnasium or activity space. Collaborate with classroom teachers and colleagues to integrate PE with broader educational programs. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, achievements, and participation. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives. Represent the school’s mission, philosophy, and policies professionally to students, families, colleagues, and the community. Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and progress records in the student information system. Assess and monitor student performance, providing feedback and progress reports. Conduct parent-teacher conferences as scheduled. Submit lesson plans, unit plans, assessments, and reports as requested by administration. Supervise students in various school settings to ensure a safe and respectful environment. Prepare substitute teacher materials and notify administration in advance when unable to fulfill assigned duties. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned, including carpool, recess, and lunch supervision.
