Practice for this role

About the role

Evaluate and assess student performance in clinical, laboratory, and simulation settings using established competency tools. Prepare instructional materials and facilitate debriefing sessions to promote critical thinking and clinical reasoning.

Clinical or Lab Rotations

The University of Olivet, a liberal arts institution with a historical commitment to inclusion, diversity, and social justice, seeks in-person Adjunct Instructors in Nursing for the Fall 2026 semester and beyond. In particular, instructors with experience in clinical, Skills Lab or Sim Lab are encouraged to apply.

This posting represents positions available for in-person, usually 0630-1900 on Tuesdays at various facilities, with labs or Sim labs on the Olivet campus. Adjunct instructor positions are part-time. Teaching assignments will vary from semester to semester, with most classes meeting once each week for 12 weeks.

The University of Olivet's Nursing program is a clinically integrated model that emphasizes hands-on skill development, evidence-based practice, and professional formation while welcoming students at varying levels of clinical experience. We currently offer instruction across clinical practice settings, nursing simulation labs, and skills laboratory environments in small, relationship-focused cohorts. Alongside technical clinical competency, the program emphasizes a broad understanding of health across the lifespan and diverse patient populations. The program intentionally engages questions of ethical responsibility, professional character, and purposeful patient-centered care, culminating in experiences that integrate nursing practice with Olivet's commitment to Education for Individual and Social Responsibility.

Students from underrepresented minorities constitute 26% of the current student body, with almost 20% of the student body identifying as African American. Approximately half of the student body is Pell grant eligible. Members of historically underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Primary Responsibilities

Evaluate and assess student performance in clinical locations, skills laboratory, and/or simulation settings using established competency checklists and clinical evaluation tools. Prepare and deliver instructional materials (i.e., lab guides, simulation scenarios, skills demonstration instructions, and clinical objectives) in-person and via the Online Learning Management System. Facilitate, guide, and debrief students during clinical experiences, skills practice sessions, and/or simulation scenarios to promote critical thinking and clinical reasoning. Compile, administer, and grade clinical performance assessments, skills checkoffs, and simulation debriefs. Participate in required reporting processes (i.e., clinical attendance, competency completion, academic concern reports, and grade submission).

Qualifications

Earned Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

We seek candidates who are open to innovation and collaboration, who embrace Olivet’s relationship-based approach to pedagogy, and who embody our commitment to inclusivity.

Starting Date

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue as needed. Anticipated start date is August 2026.
