Swim school teacher

• The Almaden Valley Athletic Club (AVAC) Swim School is looking for people who LOVE children and enjoy being in the water.
• We’re proud and passionate for our superhero team who instill in children a lifelong love of swimming, respect for the water, the full spectrum of swimming skills, and prevention of the #1 cause of death in the US, drowning.
• Never taught a swim lesson before?
• That’s OK!
• We train all our teachers our award winning skills progression and aquatic/child development philosophy.

Pre-requisites

• Schedule consistency (super important to our kiddos), able to work weekends
• LOVES children. Loves watching them learn, play, talk, sing, and get excited. Welcomes the challenge when they cry, fall down, pout, talk back, and struggle with their learning.
• Ability to be on stage (or rather a fishbowl). An AVAC Swim School Teacher is calm, collected, friendly, playful, and professional.
• Extreme patience
• Comfort with talking to a child at eye level with age relevant conversation.
• At home in the water. Able to spend hours in chlorinated water, in a swimsuit, in an out of the pool via stairs, supporting kids of all sizes in shallow and deep water
• Ability to obtain CPR/AED Certificate within 30 days. Ability to obtain a Red Cross Lifeguard certificate within 6 months (Shallow Water Lifeguard is acceptable)
• Ability to pass a background check and California’s child care registry, Guardian.

Compensation

$17.55-$20.00 with opportunities for advanced positions.
