Job description

Why join childcaregroup

Founded in 1901, ChildCareGroup’s (CCG) mission is to champion a strong early childhood system that teaches children and parents, trains early childhood professionals, and assists families. At CCG, we know that healthy children are better able to learn and thrive. Join a mission‑driven organization where your work supports the physical well‑being of children, strengthens families, and ensures access to critical health resources.

Why this role matters

As a Health Specialist – Center Based, you play a vital role in ensuring children enrolled in Early Head Start programs receive comprehensive, high‑quality health services. You help monitor and coordinate medical, dental, and developmental care while supporting families with education and access to resources.

This role goes beyond compliance — it is about advocacy, early intervention, and ensuring every child has a healthy foundation for learning and growth.

  • What you’ll do
  • Monitor and coordinate health services including screenings, immunizations, and medical and dental follow‑ups.
  • Maintain accurate health records and documentation in ChildPlus in alignment with Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Provide referrals and guidance to families for medical, dental, and inclusion services.
  • Deliver health education and training for staff, families, and community stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support holistic child development and program compliance.
  • What you bring
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Certification or education in a health‑related field (e.g., Medical Assistant, LVN, or Health Services) with relevant experience.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience working with young children and families, preferably in early childhood or community settings.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
  • A mission‑aligned, team‑oriented approach with the ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and care.

ChildCareGroup is an equal opportunity employer/program. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

Market context

Texas bilingual health roles stay in demand

In Texas, bilingual health specialists are often sought for roles serving diverse families in community and early childhood settings. These positions are competitive because employers usually want both English-Spanish fluency and a health credential such as Medical Assistant or LVN, plus experience with young children and families. Review the AI-summarized requirements and benefits on this platform against the original posting, then tailor your application to show bilingual care experience and child/family support work.
