About the role

The RBT provides direct behavioral and instructional support to K-2 students under the supervision of a BCBA. Key duties include implementing behavior intervention plans and collecting data on student progress toward IEP goals.

Position Summary

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct behavioral and instructional support to students in Kindergarten through Grade 2 under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and in collaboration with teachers, related service providers, and families. The RBT implements behavior intervention plans, supports students in developing academic, social-emotional, communication, and self-regulation skills, and promotes positive participation in the classroom and school community.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Student support
  • Provide direct one-on-one and small-group behavioral support to students.
  • Provide direct instruction one-on-one and small-group instruction focused on student’s IEP goals.
  • Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and skill acquisition programs as designed by the BCBA.
  • Support students in developing self-regulation, communication, social, and adaptive skills.
  • Assist students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, recess, specials, and other school activities.
  • Use evidence-based behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and engagement.
  • Support students in accessing the general education curriculum and classroom routines.
  • Data collection and documentation
  • Collect accurate and timely data on student behavior and progress toward goals.
  • Maintain daily records and documentation as required by the BCBA and school team.
  • Report significant behavioral incidents, concerns, or progress to supervisors promptly.
  • Assist with preparing materials and data summaries for team meetings.
  • Collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special educators, related service providers, and administrators.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with staff and families as directed.

Requirements

The candidate must be able to implement evidence-based behavior management strategies and collaborate with educators and families. The role requires the ability to provide one-on-one and small-group instruction to support student self-regulation and academic access.
