(2026 - 2027 School Year)
Coney Island Preparatory Public Charter School: Brooklyn, New York
What is the Role?
Come teach in an elementary school that feels like an elementary school. The culture of appreciation and recognition stands out through celebrations of culture, professional achievement, and academic success. The joy is palpable in and outside the classroom and our PRIDE values - Personal Power, Reflect, Inspired Action, Dedicated to My Team, Expect Greatness - are what we encourage in our scholars and uphold for each other.
Who are we?
At Coney Island Prep Upper Elementary School (CIPUES), we focus on developing the full range of critical thinking skills through a rigorous Common Core aligned curriculum, while increasing exposure to electives in the performing arts. Our scholars transition from learning to read, to reading to learn, tackling new skills through our PRIDE Advisory curriculum, and falling deeper in love with learning and developing a growth mindset. We encourage modern mathematics and algorithmic thinking for the 21st century by pairing the EngageNY curriculum with Zearn to teach a conceptually based math program in small groups, while leveraging technology so students are able to work at their own pace and get instant feedback.
Commitment to Anti-racism, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice
Coney Island Prep is committed to building a team that collectively reflects the various backgrounds, experiences, and identities of our scholars.
We recognize and respond to different points of access, so that everyone maximizes their highest potential.
We also recognize that because of institutionalized racism and systemic oppression, historically marginalized groups are at a disadvantage when it comes to most application and hiring processes.
We want to ensure that all candidates, regardless of their identity, are able to demonstrate their qualifications and are not limited by a lack of opportunity or access.
We are committed to creating a space where everyone’s identity is acknowledged, respected, and welcomed.
We are intentional about creating an environment where people feel comfortable being their authentic selves at work by constantly examining our organization culture and challenging our traditions.
