$20.50 - $21.50/hour depending on experience + sign-on bonus (half paid after 6 months of employment and half paid after 1 year of employment/pro-rated for part-time). Wayside Youth & Family Support Network is hiring for a creative and supportive individual to work in our Wayside Academy! What you will do: Teacher's Aide/Assistant is responsible for providing behavioral and academic support within the classroom to the students and teachers. Assist Special Education Teacher/Instructor in delivering curriculum. Act as substitute teacher when necessary. The Teacher Assistant is expected to act professionally and in a manner that is consistent with Wayside's core service values: resiliency, excellence and diversity. Provide 1:1 support to students to maintain their ability to stay in the classroom. Offering behavioral support interventions if a student is unable to maintain in the classroom. Be able to multitask competing priorities to enact the program structure, strive for identified standards of behavior and to provide a positive role model for youth. Ability to assess and manage risk. Ability to set limits and support the school culture. Flexibility and creative thinking (i.e. ability to adapt and adjust to changing work situations, processes, and procedures). Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree preferred. 6+ months of experience in educational settings preferred. We will train you in: Motivational Interviewing; Courageous Conversations; Attachment, Regulation and Competency Model (ARC); Trauma Informed Practice. MAP, TCI, CPR, First Aid training upon hire.
