Position Overview We are seeking passionate and knowledgeable Spanish Literacy Tutors to support K–12 students in developing their Spanish language and literacy skills.

The ideal candidate will create engaging, individualized learning experiences that align with the San Diego Unified School District curriculum and address each student's unique academic needs.

Key Responsibilities Deliver personalized Spanish literacy instruction based on student needs, learning goals, and curriculum standards.

Assess student strengths and areas for growth and develop customized learning plans.

Provide remedial support, enrichment opportunities, and supplemental practice assignments.

Foster student confidence, engagement, and academic success through effective teaching strategies.

Adapt instruction to accommodate a variety of learning styles and abilities.

Monitor student progress and maintain clear, consistent communication with parents and guardians.

Collaborate with families to establish goals and provide regular updates on student achievement.

Qualifications

We are looking for educators who are: Energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about teaching and student success. Experienced in working with children and adolescents. Dedicated to providing exceptional service to students and families. Strong communicators with excellent interpersonal skills. Able to create engaging lessons that support diverse learning styles. Reliable, professional, and committed to fostering a positive learning environment.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and meet at least one of the following criteria: Hold a valid California teaching credential (or equivalent certification). Be a current student teacher enrolled in a teacher credential program. Have at least two years of classroom teaching experience in a public, private, or charter school setting. Have experience as a lecturer or course instructor at an accredited U.S. college or university. Be a master’s or doctoral student with teaching assistant experience at an accredited U.S. college or university.

Preferred Qualifications

Native or near-native Spanish fluency. Experience teaching Spanish language arts, bilingual education, dual-language programs, or Spanish literacy. Familiarity with California State Standards and/or San Diego Unified School District curriculum. Experience providing one-on-one tutoring or small-group instruction.
